Introducing... The Original Hut Company
You may well have read about The Original Hut Company in one of our previous blogs about camping with kids, but we couldn't resist featuring it again as it really has be a huge hit with a lot of people we know!
Where is it based?
The Original Hut Company is based in the tiny village of Bodiam in East Sussex.
A bit about the site...
Unplug and relax at this very family-friendly, eco-glamping and camping site. They're off-grid, wifi free, with no noise or light pollution. Bliss!
What type of camping is available?
Choose to glamp in one of their beautiful shepherd huts, sited in sunny glades in the ancient woodland they have been rewilding since 2008. Each hut sleeps up to five people and comes fully-equipped for your stay.
The campsite also work with two local glamping companies that offer beautiful, pre-pitched, fully equipped bell tents.
Or alternatively, you can take your own tent or campervan (no electric hook-up), or hire a beautiful pre-pitched bell tent on one of their quiet riverside pitches. They have wash huts and private fire pits, and plenty of room in glorious countryside.
Do they have a cafe on-site?
The Hub is an amazing on-site cafe, open everyday from 9am to 5pm. They serve delicious, locally sourced food including a popular all-day breakfast. There’s plenty of room outside and a sandy play area. Plus, every Friday night is pizza night and The Hub is open until 9pm to eat in or takeaway.
What's the best thing to do on-site?
On land there’s axe throwing and archery plus kid’s clubs and holiday clubs and yoga classes. Or just relax in front of the campfire and enjoy the countryside.
What's the best thing to do nearby?
Go wild swimming or hire a paddle board or kayak. Walk to Bodiam Castle and the local pub. Hop on a steam train... So much fun to be had!

Are campfires allowed?
Yes! Each pitch comes with a fire pit, free of charge, and firewood and charcoal are available to buy from The Hub.
Are pets allowed?
They actively protect local wildlife so don’t allow dogs in the campsite or Shepherd’s Hut areas. But they are very welcome in the cafe, The Hub.
Do you have on-site refreshments?
Yes! The Hub cafe.
